Unit 7 Will people have robots? (Section A)

Good morning, Ladies and gentlemen:

I’m honored to have the chance to share my teaching ideas with you. My lesson is taken from unit 7 of book 1 for grade 8 junior high school. The title is “Will people have robots?” My teaching plan will include six parts. They are teaching material analysis, analysis of the students, teaching methods, teaching procedures, blackboard design and teaching reflections.

Part 1 teaching material analysis

1. Status and function

The theme of unit 7 is about “life in the future.” Students will learn the usage of simple future tense and master how to make predictions. The contents can raise students’ interest to express their ideas about the future with full imagination. It is related to the contents of unit 6 and unit 10, so unit 7 plays an important role in this book and simple future tense is always examined in tests.

2. Teaching objectives

According to the general description about the total objectives in English Curriculum Standards and the analysis above, I put forward the following teaching objectives:

A) Knowledge objectives:

Master the key words and key sentences structures,

Grasp the usage of simple future tense.

B) Ability objectives:

Improve the four skills, especially the ability of speaking and listening; develop the ability of thinking independently.

C) Moral objectives:

Stimulate students’ motivation, establish self-confidence,

Cultivate their cooperative ability by arranging different kinds of activities.

3. The important and difficult points

The important points: grasp the usage of simple future tense; know how to make

predictions; master the structure of “There will be…”

The difficult points: to grasp the usage of “more, fewer, less” and use them to

municate in real life; understand some useful phrases

and long sentences and use them properly.

Part 2 Analysis of the students

For the 8-grade students, their age is generally around 14. They are more curious about new things, so their interests in learning are easier to be aroused. After one year’s study and practice under the new course standard, they have had some basic knowledge of words, grammar and language structure and also, primary abilities of cooperation, and exploration.

Part 3 Teaching methods

Teaching methods:

1. Task-based Language Teaching

In this lesson, I will create some real situations according to the book, so that the students can finish different tasks and get a better understanding of the target language.

2. Communicative Approach

Students can learn to make predictions by municating with each other in pairs or groups.

3. Audio-lingual Method

Using the puter to give students a video and some listening materials, through this can increase students’ interests and train their listening ability. Part 4 Teaching procedure

Now let’s go to the most important part---teaching procedures. I will divide the teaching procedures into 5 steps.

Step 1: Warm up and lead in (5mins)

a. At the beginning of the class, I will give them a video to watch. This will be an exciting and important part. The video is employed to warm up the students, and can draw their attention.

b. After watching this video, I will ask students what do they think people’s living will be like in the future.

Step 2: Learn the new words and structures (15mins)

a. In order to check if students master the difference usage between fewer and less, I will make a match among students—show cards with different nouns to them and let them tell me which will be chosen .Those who can guess them fastest and best will be rewarded.

b. Pair work: students make a dialogue with their partner about the predictions using the will structure. This task will also train students’ spoken English. Step 3: Practice (15mins)

a. Listening practice:students listen to the tapes about section 2a and 2b carefully and give their answers. Then I will give them the right answers.

b. group work: students can municate with others about their own situation five years ago, today and in five years. This task can check if the students master the tense change.

Step 4: Summary the key points (5mins)

Step 5: Homework (5mins)

a. Let students draw a picture of the city of tomorrow

b. describe it in their own words on paper

Part 5 Blackboard design

In my lesson, I will use both the traditional and modern teaching aids and the blackboard design is like this.

Part 6 Teaching Reflections

During the teaching course, I will encourage the students to take part in different kinds of activities and help them build up their confidence, especially the poor ones. I will give my students encouragement as much as possible. However, some students are very shy and they are afraid of speaking English in front of the class. So it is important to help those students to enhance their confidence in learning English and it is necessary to improve the efficiency of the pair work. In the future,I will try my best to get my class more alive and encourage the students to talk more with each other in English.

So this is my whole report.

Thanks for your attention!

5). There will be …

Unit 1 Will people have robots ?

Section A (1a—2c )

will → ‘ll → won’t

eg : they’ll=they will , she’ll=she will will not → won’t . People will have robots in their homes. People won’t use

money.

Everything will be free. Kids won’t go to school. They’ll study at home on puters. more, less, fewer 九、教学反思

学生语言输出不够,重点句型训练不到位,应加强。并适当拓展一些语言。more,less,few.掌握较好。本节课学生对一般将来时基本了解。
